The A to Z of Barda

Anchor
As required by the ISAF Special Regulations for Race Category 3 Monohulls with Life Raft, when we go offshore we carry two of them, one in the chain locker in the bows which is ready to go and a second one stowed below the forward bunk which will need attaching to the boat before being hurled over the side. If we are racing inshore, to keep the weight down we carry only one anchor.

ArseholeArseholes
There are a few of them afloat and are to be avoided at all costs. It’s not unusual to come across a whole boat-full of arseholes at a regatta and the best tactic is always to ignore them, no matter how blatant the bullshit overheard at the bar.

Out on the water, keep an eye-out for anyone who seems to be either ignorant of the racing rules or simply disregarding them and pass it back down the boat so we can keep safe, clear and preferably in front of them.

The good news is that as far as I am aware my top UK arsehole doesn't sail.
