Gas and the stove
To use the stove the gas needs to be turned on at the bottle tank which is just behind the bulkhead aft of the stove - ask somebody to show you where it is. Once the gas is on get the long-nosed lighter kept on the shelf above the stove ready, and push in the burner control whilst turning it on - apply a flame from the lighter and the ring should light, but you need to keep the control knob pushed in for 5-10 seconds before you can let it go (this is a safety feature that turns off the gas if the flame has been blown out).

Same procedure is used for both the oven and the grill.

Once you have finished then turn off the ring, grill or oven and turn the gas off at the bottle valve. I am paranoid about gas in the boat so please humour me when I ask half a dozen times if the gas is off!

Gloves
Without gloves ropes will tear up most hands and although there are a few spare pairs aboard they go on a first-come-first-served basis so it’s an idea to get your own.
