• We'd invested in a telescopic fishing rod before leaving home and with some bread from the taverna plucked a few fish from the deep. All went back and Rob pulled his shorts up.
  • If he wasn't sleeping or swimming then Rob tended to eat - good job we'd stocked up on snacks.
  • After so long without a fix Rob couldn't resist the taverna TV, even though he couldn't understand a word. The family got him a chair and he joined them like some visiting neighbour.
  • After dinner, Ali and his uncle were given a quick lesson in handheld gaming, before Rob thrashed both of them.

The end of any great holiday always comes too soon and that was true of this trip - we could have just kept on going and perhaps one day we will. In the meantime we've promised we'll see Ali and his family again in the summer of 2007 so we can deliver him a photo of his bay for the taverna. Roll on August!

  • After defeat by Gameboy the Turk's decided to go one better and challenged the Sun Mate crew to a belly dancing competition. We lost. Badly. Very badly. I blame the wine.
  • Back aboard for our last night at anchor, the cockpit lamp was a must. With no light pollution the bay was pitch black, apart from the stars which were stunning.
  • The end of the journey as we entered Marmaris bay and crossed to Netsel Marina. Sun Mate had done us proud and we were already planning to return - perhaps next time we'd beat Ali at that belly dancing nonsense?
  • With an afternoon to spare in Marmaris it was back to the 'Blackpool in the sun' side of Turkey - far cry from the deserted bays and coastlines just a few hours away by sea. We'll be back!
