For a week in late August 2007 Barda will be left behind as her crew fly off to the sun for some bareboat cruising fun in Turkey visting out of the way places like the bay above.

I’ve got hold of three new Beneteau 343’s as bareboat charters from my friends at www.vedemyachting.com for a very good price along with low cost flights to and from Turkey from www.h4u.co.uk. The Turkish sailing team has grown to include no less than fourteen of us so we’ll have quite a little flotilla going. We’ll be picking up the boats from Netsel Marina in Marmaris and taking a week to explore the Turkish Lycian coast round to Orhaniye where we’ll drop the boats off before flying home from Dalaman.

Steve, Karen and Rob explored this coast for a few days last year ( click here for pictures )and if this little bareboat cruise goes well we’ll be looking to expand the adventure next season with perhaps a little bareboat charter company. The boats are there to be used and I’ve negotiated the following excellent rates which are available right now to Sussex Yacht Club members (or indeed to members of any of the combined Sussex Clubs).

Prices shown below are per Beneteau 343 which are ideal for 2-6 people, per week running between Marmaris and Orhaniye which delivers a brilliant cruising area and the feel of having completed a voyage rather than ending up back where you began.

Rates exclude flights but include transit log, mini-bus transfer to/from Dalaman airport to the boat and end of cruise cleaning. Book through myself and I’ll even throw in the essential hardcover ‘Turkish Waters and Cyprus Pilot’ by Rod Heikell to help you plan your adventure (retails at £34.50).
