Rick de Bruyn contacted me about his First Class 10 'ex10sion' that he sails out of Hellevoetsluis in the Netherlands.
Built in in 1986, Rick is the 3rd owner and is slowly renovating her. He bought ex10sion in January 2003 and puts her to use mainly cruising with his wife and two boys (5 and 2 in 2008), though he also enters her in 5 or 6 racing events each year.
Work completed to date includes changes to the interior with a fridge incorporated into a new cockpit step, refurbishing the interior wood and cupboards, new instruments and new rigging.
Rick also located an almost new mylar mainsail from an X-362 that with 10cm off the head fits OK, an almost new mylar genoa off an X-99 that fits without any changes and a brand new #2 designed for the FC10 from UK-Sails.
The pictures are from a race finish in Rotterdam and the crusing ship in the background is the massive Arcadia.
There's also a shot of Rick cooling his feet and waiting for the tide. He says he made a navigational error and thankfully hius boat came to no harm, flaoting off after some 10 hours completely dry.
